Jvion: Creating a single source of truth for health insights

Jvion is a clinical intelligence company focused on bringing a 360-degree view of the socioeconomic factors surrounding patients where they live. This information empowers clinicians and public health officials to focus on improving patients’ health outcomes by addressing factors such as healthy food access, access to transportation, and the number of primary care providers available.

Jvion needed a way to allow clinicians and health care professionals to quickly look through census block groups on a map to identify “outliers,” or patients with health risk scores outside the norm for their respective location. Once the clinicians and health care professionals locate outliers, they need to be able to drill down into that census block group and see a full scorecard containing all the headline data points available. They also needed the ability to filter the map to better identify outliers based on specific metrics other than the risk score.

Egen worked with Jvion to build three connected Tableau dashboards, allowing clinicians and health care providers to quickly and easily move between high-level analysis and more detailed information. 

The first dashboard includes the map and a single-select combo box with the metrics for filtering the map. Clinicians and health care providers can set metric ranges to find block groups that meet the threshold for being an outlier. 

Once outliers are identified, clinicians and health care providers can navigate to the second dashboard for a scorecard-style view, presenting the complete set of social determinants on the census block group selected in the previous view. 

The final dashboard has a tabular view for the selected block group, giving clinicians and health care providers a quick way to export numbers for sharing. These sharehable scorecards for specific blocks can drive decision-making and inform clinicians and health care providers on the socioeconomic barriers that their patient population faces.
