Iron mountain: Integrating data in the cloud for business operations insights

Iron Mountain is the global leader for storage and information management services, with more than 220,000 customers in 50 countries. Iron Mountain stores and protects billions of valued assets, including critical business information, highly sensitive data, and cultural and historical artifacts.
The completion of the first MVP has helped us establish governance and data stewardship, build the enterprise data platform foundation, and provided our leadership the art of the possible analytics.
Iron Mountain had disparate global systems, though, and it needed to build connections to a centralized cloud data platform or data lake. Its various on-premises systems and several Oracle instances also needed to be integrated to create a single view for Iron Mountain of its business operations.
Egen worked closely with the Google Professional Services Organization and Iron Mountain to build a project charter with detailed design plans for data storage, processing, and integration. We built a data warehouse in BigQuery with the appropriate security and access roles. Finally, we built dashboards in Looker to provide Iron Mountain users with the right level of insights to make informed decisions. Egen built the cloud data lake in less than eight weeks.
Iron Mountain now has a centralized enterprise data platform. Key stakeholders in the global leadership team can access a single source of truth and interact with intelligent data across various departments using Looker dashboards.
